The Heritage Society of Pacific Grove P. O. Box 1007 Pacific Grove, CA 93950 Date: September 16, 1996 TO: Bill & Annie Uncapher 230 4th Street Pacific Grove, CA 93950 RE: Address: 230 4h Street Subdivision: 1St Addition Block: 7 Lot: 24,22 Our maps and tax records show that the above structure was first assessed in: 1888 This means the structure was actually built early in that year, or late in the previous year. The first owner ofthis structure, according to the County's assessor's records was: Mrs. M.J. Metteer Other Comments: I suspect the original house was enlarged somewhat in late 1905 or early 1906 when Elvira M Vasquez became Mrs. Elvira M. V. McAnaney after marrying Dan McAnaney, a caulker for the Monterey County Water Works. I based my suspician on the jump in the assessment between 1905 and 1906, which is unusual for those two years. PIa(lue Status: El Structure is eligible for a plague and one will be made up for you at no charge. You will be notified when plague is ready. It could take 4 to 6 months. ® Structure is not eligible for a plague at this time because: The original house is hidden beneath modern siding. Enclosed please find: Tax assessor information through 1926. Sanborn maps from 1914 and 1926. Page from 1907 City Directory.
