She was born in Frontier County, Nebraska, on October 12, 1900 to Morley and Ada (Schoon- over) Piperr She graduated from Holbrook High School in Hol» brook, Nebraska, in 19184 She at- tended Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska, She was married to Bradford Lowe in 1922‘ He died in 1938. She was married to Arthur Nel- son in 1946, He died in 1956‘ She was married to Frank Berney on December 24, 1960‘ He died in 1988, Mrs‘ Berney served in the Women's Army Corps, She was postmaster of Wolbach, Nebras- ka, for 31 years before she retired in 1963. She moved to Shelton about eight years ago She was a life member and old- est member of the American Le- gion Auxiliary in Wolbach. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church ofWolbacl-i and of the Women’s Memorial Wall in Washington, DC Mrs. Berney enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, bowling and playing cards, including pinocle and cribbage. She also enjoyed gardening and was an avid gar- dener of flowers and vegetables She was preceded in death by her sister, Stasia Baxter, and two brothers, Raymer Piper and Ed— win Piper. Survivors include her son, Rolland B. “Sonny” Lowe of Shelton; her daughter, Phyllis Watson of Nacogdoches, Texas; her brother, Francis Piper of Saint Francis, Kansas; her sister, Helen Shaver of Wray, Colorado; her grandsons, Brad Lowe of Shelton and Tom Lowe of Lacey; her granddaughters, Mr Lee Ger- dleman of Saint Louis, Missouri, Charlotte Hotzman of Slydell, Louisiana, Sara Anderson of Af- ton, Minnesota, and Dr. Julie Watson-Kaiser of Anchorage, Kentucky; 16 great—grandchil- dren; and a great»great-grand— daughter.
