RE: Info on Clemens' Houses
Message:
Dear Mrs. Ikenberry,
Here is a summary of the information on houses owned by the Clemens family in early Pacific Grove. 1
records primarily cover the period from 1874 through 1926. Therefore, I am not providing any
information beyond 1926.
567-569-571 Ocean View Blvd - Joseph Clemens 1918-20 - Used as rentals
Purchased from Agnes Pierce in late 1917 or early 1918.
Sold to S.L. Fritz (ofPacific Grove Realty) in late 1920 or early 1921.
569 & 571 are now gone. 567 is still there, although slightly remodeled.
I suspect the tent house he wheeled down here was for a remodel or replacement of the original
567 Ocean View.
140 178 Street - Joseph Clemens 1920-26 - Used as rental
Purchased from James Bishop in late 1919 or early 1920.
House is still there, and is currently being "fixed up".
412 Park - Joseph Clemens 1920-26 - Used as his principal residence while in P.G.
Purchased from California Annual Conference ofMethodist Episcopal Church in late 1919.
House still there.
106 18th Street - Joseph Clemens 1920 - Frank Clemens 1921-26 - Used as rental
Purchased from Alex & Lenore Worth.
House is still there. Drastically remodeled and converted to a duplex (106 96).
115 18h Street - Frank Clemens 1920-26 - Used as his principal residence.
Purchased from William George.
Probably the house Joe "rebuilt" using wood from a 14th St. house.
House, cottage and garages are still there. Recently painted and fixed up.
