Air Force. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Mr. Oakes had been employed as a corrections officer at the Washington Corrections Center. His hobbies revolved around a love for horses‘ He was preceded in death by his father, John, in March 1991. Survivors include his mother, Bonnie M. Cakes of Shelton; his brother, James R, Oakes of We- natchee; his sister, Cheryl A Weston of Shelton; three nephews and one niece.
