Mozelle Mattie Widgeon Leit-
zell Crow, a Shelton resident for
17 years, died of natural causes
Tuesday, October 2, in Grape-
view. She was 78.
She was born August 21, 1923
in Columbus, Georgia, to Espey
W. and Alice Bell (Helms)
Widgeon. She married Charles
Crow. Previously, a marriage to
Albert Gaylord Leitzell ended in
divorce in 1959.
She worked as executive secre-
tary for Yuba Engineering in Cal—
ifornia, executive secretary for
Honeywell Engineering in Seat-
tle, as medical records librarian
and stenographer at Fairfield
Hospital in Fairfield, California,
and as an artist.
Mrs. Crow’s interests included
art, gardening, literature, writing
music, singing, gourmet cooking
and science, She was a member of
the Fairfield-Suisun Chapter of
the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was instrumental in organiz-
ing and starting a cultural arts
program in Fairfield, California.
She also helped start the first
Girl Scout and Brownie programs
in Solano County, California. Ac-
tive in the Parent-Teacher Asso-
ciation, she received that organi-
zation’s National Honorary Life
Membership and Golden Oak Ser-
vice Award, the highest award
given by the California PTA.
She was preceded in death by
her brother, Charles B. Widgeon,
and sister, Catherine Coffer.
Survivors include her husband,
Charles Crow of Shelton; daugh-
ters Barbara Anderson of Grape-
view, Bonnie-Jean Stober of Ken-
ncsaw, Georgia, and Gaylynn Po-
temkin of Louisville, Colorado;
sister LaVerne Burks of Glendale,
Arizona; grandchildren Jean An-
derson of Shelton, Dwain Ander-
son of Los Angeles, California,
Matthew Bell of Shelton, Rebecca
Estes-Roos of Middletown, New
York, Benjamin Estes and David
Estes ofr Orem, Utah, Rochelle
Estes of Sacramento, California,
Aaron Estes of Mesa, Arizona,
Kristie Potemlu‘n—Lemon of Olym-
pia and Alexis Potemkin of Den-
ton, Texas.
Also surviving are great-grand»
children Alyssa Estes and Sarah
Estes of Orem, Utah, Andrew
Quantz Anderson of Shelton,
Noah Anderson and Miriah An-
derson of Los Angeles and Mat-
thew Bell Jr. ofShelton.
A semi-private funeral will be
held at 11 am. Friday, October 5,
at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints in Shelton.
