Godfrey “Pat" John Heglund,
109, a resident of Shelton for 20
years, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1993,
in Fir Lane Terrace Commlescent
Center, Shelton.
RHe was born July 28, 1884, in
Fentonville, N.Y., to John and Au-
gustina (Berdine) He lund He was
the oldest of eight sib gs. His par»
ents had immigrated from Sweden
in the 1870s.
He attended school to the fifth
grade in Pennsylvania
He went to work in a glass fac—
tory at an early age to help support
his family in Sergeant, Penn. Later
the family settled in Jamestown,
NY. For a period of years he
worked for Fred Card on his family
farm near Chautauqua Lake, N .Y,
Mr. Heglund never married
In the early 1940s he moved to
Hoquiam to be near his sister, Mi»
nnie Parsons, and her family.
While in Grays Harbor, he spent a
few years working for Clifi Love-
less on his cranberry farm.
Mr. Heglund moved from Ho-
quiam in the early 19705 to Shelton,
where he lived in the Fir Tree Park
Apartments until he was 105 years
old. His home for the past four
years has been Fir Lane Terrace in
Shelton.
He enjoyed fishing.
Surviving Mr. Heglund are a
niece, Virginia Pill, Shelton; a
grand niece, Kathy Segai, Shelton;
a greatrgreat-nephew, Johnathan
Segai, Shelton; and a great-great-
niece, Julia Segai, Shelton; and
several nieces and nephews on the
East Coast.
Visitation for Mr Heglund will be
from 2 to 5 pm. Friday, Oct. 8, in
McComb and Batstone mineral
Home, Shelton. A graveside service
will begin at 11 am. Saturday, Oct.
9, in Shelton Memorial Park Gare
den Chapel, with the Rev. Neil
Thompson officiating.
